Dec 2012

So this month is always crazy this time of year with the holidays.  My work has been on the slow side, giving a nice break.  The kiddos are getting bigger.  Then there's Seth trying to get younger or relating to his youth.  That's when he had a sledding accident trying to snowbord on a sled, fell and according to the ER Dr. "smashed the hell out of your clavical".  We found out that it's broken into 4 peices.  We had thought it was in 3 the whole time after seeing the x-ray, but then the orthopedic surgon pointed out the 4th.

Nov 2012

This month, Seth had his badge pinning ceremony.  We invited Grandpa Farnsworth to come up with us.  We did have our girls for the ceremony, but since it was awards night with dinner, it was only for fireman, their spouces and retired firemen, the girls went to play at their cousins house.  It was fun seeing grandpa see other people he knew.  He was excited, you could see it in his eyes.

Addy started to draw on things and herself.  We had our first snow storm, so Addy played in the snow her first time.  The girls helped Seth build a snowman.  Addy has started pulling cute half to the side smiles.  She will pose for 2 seconds for a picture then she's done.  That is just a problem when she see's the camera in my hands, poses, I try to turn the camera on, then by the time it's on, she's done.  She is also blowing kisses and waving really good.  She will bring her blanket, sippie cup and giraffe up to you when she's tired, and will fall asleep reall quick after you rock her, or put her to bed.  She has her times where she wants to be rocked, but she is starting to want to go to bed instead.

We had our checking acount hacked into and some one in florida was trying to take out money.  Luckily it was the day before we got paid, so they only took $100 when they were trying to take $200, but couldn't becuase there wasn't enough money in there.  It also didn't put us into over draft with charges because we were about to be paid.  I cancelled the card and reported it, so we got the money reimbersed from the bank.  I am just glad they didn't try it the day we got paid, or else they could have gotten over $2,000.

Sept 2012

This month was crazy fast.  I can't believe how fast these months and this year has gone by.  Kaylie started preschool this month and loves it.  I finished the front yard for now with the raised beds, plants and trees.  They just need to mature.  We bought a mini-van.  2003 dodge grand caravan.  We all love it!  It is our first vehicle that was made after 2000, and it gets good mileage.  (since all our vehicles for the last 6 yrs have been gas gusslers.)  So the week after buying it, we broke it in by driving down to moab as a spur of the moment mini vacation.

Addy will tickle Alayna and copies Kaylie.  Alayna lost an other tooth.  We bought halloween costumes early for a better variety, in which I will talk about in oct.  Addy tries to sit in cupboards and spaces even if she won't fit (like the lazy susan) and even get frusterated about half the time when she won't fit.

We also got our family pictures done.  I like how they turned out!  I got one printed in a 16X20 to replace the one in our front room!

Oct 2012

I am not sure if I can say this month was crazy when all months right now are crazy, but it was fast.  We bought our costumes early for once!  We got them at the beginning of the months.  They are all from walmart so we paid about $20 per costume.  We had to order Kaylie's and Seth's.  Alayna was a pink lady bug (lady bug fairy she called it), Kaylie was sugar cookie lala-loopsie, Addy was a pink monster, I was a flapper, and Seth was a gangster.  When I bought the costumes the first time, Alayna's didn't fit very well, so I took it back and got one bigger, so I tried Addy's on at the store (they didn't have it in her size the first time) and she would not let me take it off her...So she stayed in her monster costume throughout our walmart trip.

Because Seth took the girls trick-or-treating last year, I got to this year.  I pushed Addy in the stroller.  I didn't buckle her in so she could go to the door.  I took her to every other door, until she figured out the candy.  Then she started hopping out of the stroller when ever I stopped to talk with someone.  So she walked a few times holding onto alayna's hand.  Kaylie kept trying to push the stroller.  They stayed out the whole time with me, not needing a break.  We were probably out there for around 2 hours.  It was rather fun!

This month I also learned how to can.  In a day with Seth's help, we canned 18 quarts of apple sauce.  I was rather impressed.  We also went to hee-haw farms where we did the corn field maze.  Kaylie kept saying 'look there's corn' for the first few minutes every time she saw one on the ground.  We went and petted the goats, where Kaylie kept trying to pet a specific brown goat, that kept running from Kaylie.  So kaylie ended up chasing it.  Then, Alayna thought this same goat was chasing her to eat her clothes.  So she was running, screaming and crying over it.  The girls then participated in a pig chasing contest, each in their own age group.  Kaylie got 3rd place in hers, where she needed to touch the pig for 5 consecutive seconds.  Alayna wasn't able to even get to a pig since there were so many kids, plus Alayna isn't as tough as Kaylie is.

Aug 2012

So this month flew by very fast.  Alayna started 1st grade.  She is eating lunch at school and tells me that she eats most of it which is a relief to me.  I also moved Kaylie out of Alayna's room so Kaylie no longer keeps Alayna awake at nights.  Now I have Kaylie calling me to let me know that Addy is on her bed and won't let her sleep.  Ironic....Kaylie kept talking and singing at night so Alayna couldn't sleep.  Kaylie and Addy for the most part like sharing rooms.  It has only been less than a week that they switched, (being at the end of Aug), and I told Kaylie to give it 2 weeks and Addy will do better.  Kaylie will be starting preschool a couple weeks into sept, so I am excited about that.  The weird thing is that Kaylie doesn't get into things when Alayna is at school.  Probably because she doesn't have to fight for what to watch on tv or over toys with alayna.  So that is rather nice.

Seth loves working at Sandy.  He goes on 7-10 calls a day, where as at PG is was 5 on a good day.  He gets a lot more experience and already feels at home and welcome there.  So that is always nice.  We went and visited him up there.  They have a plaque where they put firemen who have passed away on there, so my great grandpa George and my grandpa's brother LaVern is on there.  My grandpa will join them after he passes.  It is really fun having that sentimentality with this firestation.

So Addy is cute and the problem is that she knows it.  She will come up behind you when you are sitting on the floor and will beat your back.  She will grab something you put down and take off running with it giggling, like the remote control, or Kaylie's kitty or chocolate milk.  It's funny how she will watch Kaylie for that oppertune moment, grab it and run and watch Kaylie jump down off the couch running after her.  She is learning how to dance.  She doesn't talk much, but is starting to say more words, esp calling for na-na or dada.  She will walk past the closed bathroom door and pound on it.  All the girls did.  The few things that I have taught the girls to do are how to tickle Seth and how to bang on the door when he is going to the bathroom to try to scare him.

Kaylie likes to break out in song.  Her songs she likes to sing includes 'single ladies' by beyonce.  I think it's rather funny.  She will sing primary songs, and just random things.  She sings with the start of her favorite shows on the disney channel, esp Jake and the neverland pirates.  She playes with Addy a lot.

July 10, 2012 catch up

So it's been a while since I've blogged.  I started journaling and adding picts as I go, so I've been neglecting my blog.  Seth has officially quit the prison (his last day he worked was monday the  but his last official day was June 6th.)  Today was his first day with Sandy.  He loves his new job.  Apparently the guys had to keep telling him to stop smiling (including the chief, of course it was all good natured and not serious).  So on seth's last day at the prison, he was driving home and I told him we were going to go buy trees.....and that I already had the areas dug out for them....  Poor guy.  He thought he was going to come home and relax.  But I already had everything ready, and he just helped place the trees.  I dug and buried them.  Slowly through the days  I went and bought bricks to make more of flowerbeds, and now I just need to fill the areas with dirt and plants.  Our front yard is defiantly coming together.  I can't believe how much I have put into our yard.

In the last week, we have also bought a digital piano.  It is power efficiant and has ivory keys so it feels like a piano.  I has it's advantages to being a digital.  The biggest factor into getting it was that it's in our price range.  We got a discount on it since the guy selling it to us gave us the family discount.  He is in Seth's parents ward, and Seth grew up with his son.  Alayna and Kaylie love it.  I love that the volume can be turned down.  Kaylie loves turning the sound onto the chior.  She likes listening to the 'ahhhh's.  They both will ask to play it on a daily basis, and both want lessons.  I haven't attempted yet.  Seth says I can teach him first.  Everytime that I jump on the piano, then seth will come and sit down on the couch and listen.  He is soo excited about finally getting me a piano.
He says he loves listening to me play.  Another cool thing about this piano is that it has a usb port, so I can record songs or have the piano play songs.  Other than that, it's just a basic digital paino upscale to the cheapest with the ivory keys.

We were able to finally get seth his grill.  It was a very belated fathersday gift.  We are excited about it.  Seth had to wait a few days after buying it to cook on it, since I had to work.  I would have let him cook, he just wanted to wait for me.  He bought the cheapest on sale steak (so nice for him to be thinking of our finances) and marinated it for a couple of days.  It was really good for saying it was on sale and cheap.  It has the main grilling rack, with one above it that rotates forward with the lid as it opens and closes.  It also has a stove on the side, and a cover that will flip up when we want to use it.  It's all propaine so we have a stove to use if the power goes out.  I love that part.  I like having back up options if we were to lose power.

Addy is pointing everywhere at everything.  She is doing great in her toddler bed.  We have a body pillow to the side of it, so if she falls out she will have padding.  She has only fallen out 3 times in 2 weeks and the first 2 times were on the first night.  After that night, we were ready to rethink putting back into the crib bed, but she adjested so fast, we are just keeping her there.  Now we are just rethinking to when we will put Kaylie and Addy together in a room.  Alayna and Kaylie are fighting like cats and dogs lately.  I think they could use some separation.  Alayna is like Seth.  She will go to sleep instantly and wakes up early in the morning.  Kaylie has a hard time falling asleep, staying asleep, and needs time waking up time before getting out of bed.  Addy loves being with the girls.  She also likes running up and giving hugs.  She will wave bye-bye.  Her hair is getting curlier with two fly away curls one on each side of her head by her ears.  Her first molar just cut through.  She loves to eat food over baby food.  She loves to go outside.  When the girls are out side and she's in, she'll pound on the door while looking at them.  She is going through a groth spurt to where she's starting to look like little girl instead of baby.  Almost like a big girl toddler instead of little girl toddler.  She is still very busy.  The busiest baby we have ever had.  At one year, her height was in the 80% and her weight was only 19 lb.  She is still between 19 and 19.5, so she's still rear-facing in her carseat.  At least her legs are shorter so they don't hit the seat yet.  Alayna was turned around at 12 months because of her length and age.  Then it was suggested age and weight, so Kaylie didn't get turned around until 13 months. Anyway, they are all getting soo big.

June 21, 2012 Seth's job offer

So a few days ago, (on the 18th,) seth got a phone call from the sandy fire department, wanting Seth to go and meet with the cheif and deputy cheif.  So today he had his meeting.  They offered him a full time fire position!!!  I think saying we are sooooo excited  is the biggest understatement ever!  Now he will be a full time fire fighter with sandy, part time with PG and do some EMT teaching on the side, and yet he will be home way more often!!!  Yay!!  He starts June 6, and has his last 2 weeks left for the prison.  7 shifts and counting.
